Women’s Mentoring and Leadership Academy Fall Kick Off!
The mission of the Skyline College Women’s Mentoring and Leadership Academy (WMLA) is empowering and transforming women at Skyline College to achieve personal and professional growth. This is one of my favorite places to be on campus, with all the kind-hearted and supportive people that come together to support our students and create that sense of belonging that we do so well! Wednesday was the Fall Kick Off and we look forward to what WMLA brings this semester!

ASSC Opening Day of Latinx/Hispanic Heritage Month
On Thursday in the quad, ASSC hosted Latinx vendors, small businesses and resource tables. Students came for free Aguas Frescas and Churros, and won giveaways!

7-Point Plan Focus: Introducing Dr. Donna Buchanan

Dr. Donna M. Buchanan, CEO of Crucial Shift Consulting, is temporarily joining us at Skyline College to offer her expertise in change management and to help us bring about the transformative change we are intending with the institutionalization of the People’s College Initiative through integrated planning and our Educational Master Plan. Dr. Buchanan has over 20 years of higher education experience leading organizations through change to solve problems, seize opportunities and achieve mission-aligned goals. Certified in change management and diversity, she works systematically to plan and implement programs and initiatives related to equity, compliance, student outcomes, and continuous improvement – all the things on our plate! We are planning a Summit and a Town Hall about all of this work, so please stay tuned.
ACCA Mentoring Event Last Friday

Skyline College hosted the ACCCA Mentor Program “NorCal” event last Friday. ACCCA Mentor Program is a statewide, year-long learning opportunity that provides an invaluable personal and professional development experience. Program participants are selected for demonstrating a potential for expanded leadership roles in their current, or future, responsibilities within the California community college system. I was invited by the lead, Dr. Giesce Ly, to talk with the mentees, alongside Dr. Newin Orante and Dr. Vinicio Lopez. We hung out fireside in B12. We had some beautiful conversations about the challenges we face as leaders and how to overcome some of the hurdles.
