All that is sunny does not glitter, not all those in the fog are lost.

Colegas

Woo Hoo! The Skyline College Team at the 2022 Colegas Annual Conference. I hope we can share more about their experience in next week’s blog (Hint. Hint.)

Career Education Day at Skyline College

200 Students from our local area high schools visited Skyline College to explore career education. Someone paused me in the moment to prevent a bad selfie and show me how to do this great wide angle photo in the moment, but my arm!? LOL!
And this amazing team pulled off a great Career & Technical Education Day! So proud of everything they accomplished to make the event run so smoothly for our high schoolers. Great T-shirt design too! Thank you, Anthony!
Anthony Schlander, successful entrepreneur and keynote.

I had the pleasure of introducing the Keynote Speaker, Anthony Schlander. He is an entrepreneur with his own event planning company – and he plans big events and builds unique venues, including District Six in San Francisco. Born and raised in the Bay Area, he told his story of attending five local high schools and all the challenges he faced. He was motivated to do better. We were inspired by his personal story and talk.

Integrated Planning Town Hall

We held a campus wide Town Hall to share the experience we had at the Leadership Summit and to invite the entire campus to provide feedback as we move through progressive phases of collectively drafting the Education Master Plan (EMP). We provided our vision of student-centered integrated planning, and the current status of our EMP as SPARC continues to do the heavy lift. We shared that there are plenty of upcoming opportunities to provide your feedback. In fact, we are building a web page now that will house the work of the EMP. We will share this widely when it is ready. In case you missed the Town Hall, click here to watch! You need a PASSCODE: 83@1sXiG

“Pages of People” attended. The new paradigm of community? Hope not!
We continue to CELEBRATE THE PEOPLE who contributed to our Summit. Please contribute to this Gratitude Wall! There’s a LOT of gratitude going on here.

Skyloween!

I sadly missed the Skyloween celebration but it looked like so much fun!
Fake costume from zoom land.
Nice costumes!
Festivities in the Student Quad

Skyline College Neighborhood Center

We are thrilled to be partnering with the Jefferson High Adult School and the Jefferson Union High School District to bring to the community “Skyline College Neighborhood Center”. We hope to see you at the Opening next week!

Silicon Valley Community Foundation Visits Skyline College

With my new favorite CEO and team from a truly great organization. I am glad they enjoyed our venue for their retreat.

It was an honor and privilege to visit SCVF’s retreat and to say a few words. This is an amazing organization doing great things in our community and so aligned with our work at Skyline College. I am looking forward to learning more and visiting again with their CEO soon!
